Want to build some target stands for practicing. Figure there is no need to reinvent the wheel. Any good ideas?

I want to be able to throw them in the back of a truck and place them at ranges between 100 and 1200+ yards. I'd like to shoot paper and steel.

Thanks!

I’ve made some out of 2x4 lumber that worked fine and cost very little to make. For shooting paper I put tar paper on it which allows you to staple smaller targets on it. The wood is fast and easy to build…main down side is that they are light so get blown over if there is heavy wind. Piling rocks or small sand bags on the legs or drilling holes in the base so they can be spiked helps a lot with the wind.

This is what I've been using.
The paper target holder could be higher off the ground but it works.
Bought most likely anywhere that has targets.
The gong legs are on campfire every so often and you use your existing 2x4.

Do not use chains because they get shot off.
Then I used the rubber straping but had it permanently wood screwed but they made loading and uploading difficult.

Now I have 3 different size gongs and came up with a quick way to hang them.

I took a long bolt, welded on a large washer.
Drilled hole at angle.
Then after tightening cut the head off.
Used a step but to drill the straps and they slide rite off.20211231_164849.jpg20211231_164826.jpg20211231_164833.jpg20211231_164844.jpg

I had these from 100 to 1,100 yards on my property in CA. Not portable but were perfect for hanging different target types.

The 4” gongs past 400 yards really humble a lot of guys who are self proclaimed “good shooters”.

To remind them why I was the instructor I would show them it’s possible with practice and training. I’d ring a full magazine or two with their own rifles.
