Managed to pick up a box of .264 caliber 143 grain Hornady ELD-X bullets today. I decided to weigh a few and was a little surprised by the variation. I weighed the first 5 bullets I pulled out of the bag. They were:

143.3
143.2
142.9
142.8
142.8

There is a difference of a half grain in just 5 bullets. I’ve heard a couple different opinions on this. What do y’all think? Just how significant is this in a hunting round at no further than 500 yards?

At less than 500, you probably won't notice it at all. In factory ammo I'm sure this is common and I've had some factory loads print .5 moa. Just shoot them.

What's the tolerance on your scale? The electric scales I've seen will self adjust when I'm monkeying w powder loads.
