Oats at sunlight and brush the rest of the day lol.
<<<see avatar pic>>>. Oats at 10am.
I've determined they're just where you find them. I've killed them in creek beds, rock slides, oat grass, chemise brush, poison oak, green glades, timber, oaks and fresh burns at all different times of day. Not to mention I've seen them on private ag property in tomatoes, alfalfa, wheat, oats, prunes, almonds, walnuts, pistachios, grapes and in crp. And in neighborhoods and yards and blah blah blah. Bottom line almost everywhere in a zone is deer country, just a matter of densities and nocturnal activity that determine how many deer sightings you'll have. And obviously the more deer you see, the greater the odds that one will be a legal buck or even a mature buck. Moral of the story is, you generally have to spend a pretty good amount of time out in deer country, before and during deer season if you want to be successful in harvesting a mature buck. (Or just a legal one if your hunting area has low deer numbers or high hunting pressure.)
