Coming down to the last days gentlemen! I've been cruising around logging roads for bears and have been striking out until today. Saw a 300+ lbs cinnamon colored bear. He was about 1500'. He snuck of and we couldn't get it done.

Anyone else seeing any bears? Just curious on the circumstances for this time of year.

I'm pretty sure mine was headed down to feed and water around 4 this afternoon.

Its duck season. (y)
That's one type of hunting I've never really enjoyed. There are a few I really like to eat but the hunting just doesn't do anything for me. My son is all in with waterfowl...

I guess bear is over...

They're still around. Just need to find the feed, usually acorns this time of year. I'm still seeing tracks pretty regularly. Up here, in places, there's still a few white oak acorns around and some tan oaks in places. That where they seem to be using. Don't discount the burned over areas. I've been surprised how many tracks I've seen going right through the scorched areas to little patches of feed. Good luck.

Those acorns on the east/west side of sierras. Not seeing much on the east

It is still bear season, don’t get it twisted. Nothing better than a December fatty. Saw some fresh tracks at 5500 ft a week ago. No idea what they are eating.

I am thinking of heading over to Mendocino National Forest next week for a look. Anyone have a honeyhole for late season bears near Elk Creek or Stonyford?

Take this for what its worth. In Oct. during deer season there were tracks all over those burns directly above Elk Creek. May still be some there depending on feed.

I was able to punch my tag on the 17th down in Southern A Zone. Forgive me for the not so great pictures, that's what happens when you kill a bear on a 30 degree slope!
