Cali D zone access through X zones?

Lot's of good advice above. I'd go so far as to keep the wardens contact info handy so he can defend you from other LEOs that decide to question you. A few years ago a hunter legally killed a 30" buck in X8 on opening week and was detained by an over achieving USFS employee when he transported it through D5 which hadn't opened yet. The wardens saved the day for him with a quick hike to the kill spot.

I don't ever remember X8 and D5 having a different opening date, archery or general season.

X8 opened on the 15th or one week earlier than D5 for many years. That was far enough back it wasn't D3-5 yet.

Oh ok, before 3-5 was all combined. Gotcha, thanx. That was quite a while ago then, longer than I can remember season dates. Wasn't it combined in the early 2000's? Cool story though!
