Hey! Just got stationed in San Diego and want to go bear hunting this fall for California’s archery season. Anyone know of where a good region to hunt in SoCal or even up north?
Thanks!
I don't know anything about SoCal, but we've got all the bears you could throw a sharpened stick at up here... pick a place on the map, and you'll find them.
No not really. You provided no information on what zone you plan on getting a tag for. I can recommend a few different spots in just about every zone in Northern CA. Where do you plan to go?
You dont need a specific zone bear tags good through out the state , message me as it gets closer and id be proud to take you out or give you info on places . Thank you for your service
OP here are the actual rules and regs for California Bear from last seasons handbook. Jump to page 64, there are some important rules and regs to research...
Closest to you probably = D14, San Bernardino Mtns. Big Bear City.
D8 = large unit bears almost everywhere. From Kernville North. Find water and berries. Screes/rock slides - they will b flipping rocks looking for insects.
