I figure we might as well start a second Gen Tacoma thread since there’s a first Gen one.

Pics and details on your truck. Best upgrades and what you wish was different or you plan to change in the future.

I purchased this truck as is right before hunting season, it was a kids show truck that he bought new.

Mods;

- Icon Vehicle Dynamics stage 4 lift with billet upper control arms
- Icon Alloy 17x9 rebound wheels with spare
- 285/70R17 Kenda R/T tires with spare
- CBI front aluminum bumper
- smittybilt 10k winch
- factor 55 ultra hook
- bulletproof fabrication grill
- Pelfreybilt steel front skid
- k & n cold air intake
- switch pro panel
- warrior products roof rack
- CBI rock sliders
- wet okele waterproof front seat covers installed at purchase but I removed them and tossed them in the garage
- Viair onboard air system with 2.5 gal tank
- Firestone rear airbags with saddles
- Fab Four rear bumper with spare tire swingout
-Custom led headlights
-Rigid 50” curved bar and pods

I also got all the stock parts with the truck, I removed the seat covers and cold air intake and put the stock one back on. I added a topper as well which i found for $500 in Boise that was color matched to my truck. I also pulled the rear tire carrier so I could haul my TW on the rear. I’ll probably put the flares back on also to keep the mud off a little better. It defiantly had some scars now, pinstriped and one small dent from a stick slapping up and hitting the rear fender.

Future plans are front and real electric lockers and 4:88 gears. I also want to figure out some kind of fuel storage since these have such a small tank.

Still debating on upping to 35’s from the 33’s. It drives awesome now and I don’t want to lose the drivability. I’m coming from a unlimited rubicon on 37’s so the Tacoma is defiantly lacking in the off road department compared to the Jeep. I love the extra room and not having to haul animals inside of the vehicle. I’ve hauled 5 animals since buying it in sept.

I’ll play..

mine is a 13 bone stock when I got it besides a flowmaster exhaust I would ditch if I could come up with a factory exhaust.

3” toytec lift
Camburg upper control arms
SCS SR8 wheels
285’s
Some rock sliders I haven’t installed yet

I have had a bunch of Toyota’s most on 37’s with lockers and cages but for a daily this truck has been great.

Trimmed and frame mounts chopped to fit 37" pitbull rocker radials, no they dont rub
ScS wheels
ADS ccoilovers w/700# springs
OME Dakar leaf pack
ARB compressor and front/rear lockers
ECGS 3rd members, 5.29 gears
RCI full skids and exhaust re-route
Relentless Fab sliders
Lexus big brakes/powerstop rotors up front
Total chaos UCA/LCAs, spindle gussets
Arb snorkel
Katzkin heated leather seats
Bed rail mounted 20# cO2 tank w/inflate-deflate setup and Hi-lift

Trifecta cover on it for now...just put a deposit down on a GFC camper for summer pickup. Dual swingout will go on before the camper get here to put the spare on, make room for the dogs in the bed. Also need to add a 2nd battery, inverter and panel in the bed to get it ready for lighting and charging in the GFC

Sucks on gas sits in the driveway 95% of its life.Screenshot_20201004-093357_Samsung Internet.jpg

My 2nd gen is pretty basic. Light Racing uppers, Billy 5100s with 885 coils up front, add a leaf in the rear. Pro Comp wheels and 265/75 16 ST Maxx. Nothing fancy. 2nd Gen Tacomas have a useable drivetrain, not that trash they put in the new ones. 258k on mine and rolling.

I expect to still be driving my 1989 when I'm 70 in 15 years. Holy crap.........only 15 years to 70??? What the heck is going on here? I was just 30 a couple years ago.

I think I just threw up a little seeing that Vern. If that had happened to my truck, I would have thrown up......maybe for weeks. My condolences.......I hope everyone besides the moose was OK. Lucky you didn't clip the legs and have that body on top of you. Hate to see that.

...whats your point? There is a separate forum somewhere on the internet for almost every topic in general discussion. Does that mean we need to have one forum membership for every topic we want to discuss?

Not saying that at all. This being a hunting and gear forum trucks fall under the gear umbrella I guess. Guess all I was trying to do was direct traffic towards a forum dedicated towards Tacomas. Much more support and feedback there than here probably.

Pretty stock 2006 TRD Off-Road. 360k and running strong.

Did add the GOAT / Go Off Road Armor Tech magnetic panels.

This truck has really served me well. My family just got a new-to-us Sequoia, so my wife is taking that and I now have her Accord as the daily driver, so the Taco is now my hunting rig. As such I’m going to be making some investments in her to make her more hunting useful.

Why did you even click on this thread? Just to bitch about it? Keep scrolling if you don't want to read it. It's a simple concept.

Hey bud I've said my piece in post #16. Don't need to be an internet tough guy.

Mine's a 2012 Sport and have resisted the urge to mod it much. I run slightly oversized tires (265/70/17's)- studded Nokian Hakkapeliita LT 2's in the "winter" and KDO2's the rest of the year- both E rated. I've got some aluminum skid plates up front (Ricochet Off-Road) and a soft-topper on the back.

I have a small led light bar that will be mounted on my front bumper guard (Avid Off Road)- have to straighten out the guard a little (deer bent it a wee bit).

I do carry a pretty complete recovery kit- large hand winch, hi-lift jack, straps, traction boards, shovels, chains, etc.

As a game warden I got into (and mostly out of :)) a lot of terse situations with my trucks and can say with certainty that my Tacoma runs circles around all of the full sized trucks I've used.
