Central Arizona OTC Muley Poll

Hey guys... I'm planning for an Arizona OTC mule deer hunt specifically in the central Arizona area (units 6, 8, 17, 18, 19) and I was trying to see when people preferred hunting the best. Feel free to comment what influences your decision (rut, pre-rut, other people afield, weather, etc). Thanks in advance for the input!

Usually elevated rutting activity the first week of January into the second week.

Thanks for the input. Yeah from what I was reading looks like Jan 1-9 would be the best time frame around there. I spent a weekend scouting last January in a southern AZ desert unit but I've never been in that central AZ area that time of year.

January 1-9 would be my choice. That way you can hunt Deer and Javelina at the same time.

Hunt both. Unless things have changed, you can harvest one the last week of December, and another after the first of January

I liked early January archery. Usually hunted either unit 8 or 10.

If you're talking best rut activity in those units... I'd say the first week in January. Up on the rim (8) I'd say last week in December. I live in 19. Ed F
