Central oregon turkeys

I’m a first year turkey hunter looking for what to look for in terms of turkey areas near central Oregon. Somewhere like grizzly, ochoco, upper deschutes, or metolius. Thank you!

Ask the local ODFW office biologist. They will tell you some general areas. Then listen early and late in the day for gobbles, and use a locator (crow, owl, ...) call to get them to shock gobble once they roost in the evening. The ones I hunted recently in OR were so hot, they responded to most any loud noise. Take some time and gas, but you will find some.

I just saw a new program, ODFW is getting landowners to allow Turkey hunting reservations. Most are west side, but it would be worth a look.

Any luck? I've been looking into those areas and im wondering if its worth the drive! Currently live in Northern CA
