Well writen and well thought out. Nice read. Coincidentally, my wife and daughters started with the 243,then graduated to a 270 or 25/06. The youngest is still on the 243. I'll tell you one thing. When they are done with my M700 stainless mountain rifle 243,I want it back. Even hairy chested he men can make good use of the 243 for whitetails and varmints.

Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for your comments. You know my Mom had a custom made .243 with a thumb hole stock when I was real young infact too young to shoot it. I'll never forget that gun, it was a beauty. I was determined to fight my siblings for it but that never happened because it got sold. Consequently, I started with a Winchester Model 94 .30-30 (which is also a great and fun gun but I wanted that .243!) My girls will be a bit luckier than I was!
