I have read posts before saying Christensen arms ridgeline fft coming out of the box over advertised weight. Anyone have one that could confirm or deny? Looking at picking one up and can’t find the posts now that have out of box weight.

I have a 280 AI - I try and throw it on the scale when I get a chance. Seems super light weight tho.

Wow with a scope that’s pretty impressive, what scope is that?

Ziess Conquest v4, z600

I can get it under 7lbs with a Leupi.

What I don't understand, is people buying a super light rifle, then adding heavy rings and a tank for a scope.

I saw a post on an fft all up weighing 7lbs, 4ozs, just like mine.

Obviously, a normal Ridgeline with the right stock, rings and scope is just as light.

That said, CA made the right decision to trim the Ridgeline down with the fft. I guess they got the hint when people were doing what I did.

Imo, it's a perfect weight now.

PS...I'm sure your 280ai will be in the 7lbs range with the right rings, scope combo....

Doc linked my post over on LRH. There’s some range reports on there as well. Nothing extensive but I am keeping track of my load development progress over there as well. I’m getting better than expected velocities
Edit: 7.2 w/o bipod mount

My fft (280ai) is 7.2 scope, rings

I just picked up the FFT titanium in 6.5 PRC. While it says it starts at 4.8# (or 4#13oz) mine came in 5#3oz or 6oz over stated weight. Without the bolt the rifle weigts 4#8oz but last time I checked you can’t shoot the rifle without the bolt in it. Realistically it’s not a big deal as with my talley low rings and VX-3HD 34.5-14x40 the total weight is 6#5oz. But I would be able to brag more if it was 6oz lighter. Pics below for proof.

I buy a super light rifle so when I add rings, reliable “tank” scope and a suppressor, it’s still relatively lightweight. I rather have a 8.5lbs gun I know for a fact will hold zero than a 6.5lbs one that I’m questioning after a drop.
To OP, I’ve weighed 5 Christensen’s and all came in overweight except a Mesa FFT.

Or, put a reliable scope and rings, and have it weigh 7.25lbs.

Flew to Colorado in Oct for an antelope hunt, including pulling the rifle apart to fit in a smaller travel gun case.

Put it back together in Colorado, torqued guard screws of course to what it originally was and shot it to check zero.

Put 2 shots into one hole, 1.5 inches high, dead center.

And got to hunt with a 7.25lb rifle.

Easy peasy....

Glad it’s working out for you, I’ve had the same scope, v4 and v6 👍

I ran across a CA (not sure of model) at the LGS the other day. Chambered in 30-06 the rifle looked nice so I decided to pick it up. HOLY COW....talk about light. It felt just a tad heavier than my old .22LR wood stock rifle. I almost went to the get the paperwork started to take it home.
