Was wondering if anyone might have Chronograph Data for a "2020 Browning Hunter long range (walnut stock 22") in 6.5 Creedmoor" with Hornady 140 ELM Match ammo? I know I need to check my own gun, but I don't have a chronograph and was curious how much if any difference from the rating on the ammo box people are seeing.

I've chronoed that load in two different rifles. 22" Barrett Fieldcraft, ~2635. 22.4" T3X, 2625. The Barrett has a handful of readings, the Tikka just a single that I could find. Both were exceptionally accurate. A handload using RL17 that is about 2650 is also crazy accurate.

The latest lot I had (3192505) of 140 ELDM from my 22” Bartlein had a MV of 2,740 fps. Chrono’d and confirmed at distance.
That’s interesting.. Always hear folks say MV is reduced on shorter barrels. Yours is higher than stated on hornady spec of 2710

It’s a crap shoot, Iv had different lots of Hornady match 140 eldm vary by over 100fps.
Thanks. I bought a Leupold CDS and wanted to order the free cap even though I probably won’t use it. Based on everything I have heard on 22” and buddies of mine stating they saw 80fps lower on 22” vs 26”.
I was wondering what to specify for MV when ordering? I was wondering 2635 would be close enough or should I just use something closer to 2710 that hornady states..?

To be honest what your barrel shoots it at is a total shot in the dark without a chrono or trueing off drops. Barrels can be fast or slow, and speed up in the first few hundred rounds.

Lot to lot can change as well. The two cases of 140 eldm Hornady ammo I had differed by just over 100fps. ~2550 and 2680 in another through the same gun, on the same day.

Thanks for the feedback.. I didn’t know the hornady match ammo was so variable. I’m not a reloader so I was hoping for better capability out of them.

I have a few Leupolds that have CDS and don’t personally use them because I grew up without it.. I think the concept is good for a hunting rifle , in home country, under 600 yrds probably. I usually order the free dial just to have with my favorite rifle/ scope/ ammo. My favorite thing about my CDS ZERO LOCK is I can have an external turret that I don’t have to worry about moving. However.... I am a sucker for a gloss scope of the 80s-90s sitting on a nice fancy wooden rig...

Buy a bunch of the same lot and chrono it, then order. If you dont want to use just moa, go to kenton industries online and order a custom cap that is etched for both range increments and also STILL has moa markings (assuming you're an MOA kinda guy)
