i dont have a cva but this is my routine.

remove the BP and put it in a small cup -like the one ounce cough medicine cups
add solvent to the cup, it takes several drops but you dont need to cover it

clean the rifle while the BP soaks
wipe the BP off as much as i can with a few patches-most powder residue will wipe off easy
then i use an old brush with a patch on it [or a small screwdriver with a patch] to clean the primer pocket
lastly a 1/8 in drill bit is twisted carefully by hand in the flash hole then a patch is twisted in the flash hole.
add your favorite lube or antisieze and install

Pretty much same as above. Soak in solvent, scrub it, use drill bits, repeat until clean. I'm pretty good at making a mess, so finish by scrubbing everything down with hot soapy water to make sure I get all of the solvent/residual debris removed. Dry everything then wipe down lightly with oil.

Good ideas. I need to find a small cough medicine cup the size of my breech plug. BH 209 is real easy on my breech plugs, but from time to time it needs a good soaking.

I use my preferred rifle solvent to clean BH, I happen to like Patch Out. I use some of that on a q tip to lather up both sides of the plug and soak/wipe/soak that while I'm running patches on the barrel. When the barrel is clean I clean out the solvent in the plug, use a needle and an air compressor hose to make sure the narrow hole is clear (holding up to light) and reassemble.

1. Torch tip cleaner through the flash channel.

2. 1/8 inch drill bit through the flash hole.

3. Scrub entire breech plug surface with Hoppe's #9 with a q tip

4. Solvent down the flash channel with a syringe

5. Dry as much as possible of breech plug, allow residual solvent to evaporate

6. Breech plug grease on threads

be cautious with the drill and tip cleaner. you dont want to remove any metal, just carbon.

if you enlarge either hole ignition may suffer.

Exactly my routine, but I don't worry about grease on the threads.
