Cleaning mouth reeds

Just pulled a mouth reed out of a snap shut case...mold. needless to say, not going to clean this and re-use, but it very well could contain the cure for something, so I may donate it to my local lab.

That said...do you clean your reeds frequently, if so, what's ths preferred method. Soaking, hand wash? What kind of soap, cleansers are safe for that rubber?

Everclear. I use the same thing on my nightguard.......I clench and grind my teeth when I sleep. Something I'm going to be chewing on all day for days on end doesn't need any "cleansers" on it of any other type. But generally I throw any reeds away that I used during the season.......they'll be stretched out and on their last legs anyway.
