Does anyone do anything different to they're water filter after its been sitting awhile ?? I'm starting to get things ready for a late August Elk hunt and i wasn't sure what to do about my filters, rinse them in bleach or anything else.I know they still have a lot of use left since most of the time the life expectancy goes on number of gallons filtered...

I clean mine with 2 Tbsp to a liter of water then take it apart and let it dry before I store it for any length of time.

I have always kept mine in the freezer when not in use, per the manufacturer. Then I just pull it out and put it in the pack.

Same here. Had the Hiker since they were made by PUR, before Katadyn bought them out.... Probably should replace the filter but thinking of going with a Sawyer inline...
