CO Rules for mule deer hunting

You have to be 50 feet from the centerline of the road to shoot. This includes the dirt 2 track forest service roads. The CPW likes to place RC/animatronic/head moving full mount taxidermy decoys close to the roads to see if you follow the rules.

Definitely some great tips in there. The 50’ rule I hadn’t seen in print anywhere yet so that’s good. And also the private property not having to be posted. Those rules vary a lot state to state. Excellent feedback guys. I appreciate it.

It is rule 21 in the "illegal activities" section on page 15 of the 2020 Colorado Big Game regulation brochure.
