Colorado plant

Question for those that hunt elk in Colorado. The area we hunt has large areas of a large leafed plant with yellow flowers. They flourish from spring to late summer but by the time archery opens they have mostly died. Does anyone know the name of this plant(weed)? Thanks for the help

Could be arrowleaf balsamroot. Looks like a smaller version on a sunflower or very large yellow daisy, usually in a cluster.

If it’s what I think it is and sounds like it is, you can find it all over the place if you drive up to the Mesa behind Vega towards the Flat Tops or Middle Leon. That stuff is everywhere. If you hit it just right there are these tiny wild strawberries that are to die for

I'm guessing you are referring to mullen, sometimes called dock, that is an invasive weed from Europe.
