Local pawn shop has an older M70 in 7WSM, the barrel is rusted and need work. Inside the action is spotless. Looks like it’s mostly sat in a gun safe and received surface rust.. it’s cheap enough, I could throw a new barrel in 6.8 western on it and a bell Carlson stock and have a nice rifle for less than a new 6.8 from browning. I should be fine with the short action right? Just planning on shooting factory ammo. 165s
Buy a barrel blank in 1-7.5 twist and have my smith chamber and true the action to it? Or buy a prefit? What’s everyone’s thoughts?
