Well my Ca hunting trips are a bust this year with all the fire and forest closures. So, instead im using my time off to take the family to visit my mom in AZ. She just bought the place early this year so I haven't been down there yet. She lives in Cottonwood and I plan to roam the area looking for outdoorsy stuff to do and see. Asking for suggestions on things worth checking out (dirt roads to drive, creeks to check out, places to glass up elk or mule deer, fishing, look for reptiles, shoot guns, gun stores to check out, hikes worth hiking, etc). Driving down there the end of this week. Thanks for any input

Forests are all closed atm for target shooting. Sedona has some great hiking trails. Probably worth your time to head up to flagstaff or happy jack to see that we have forests. The drive up to flagstaff from Sedona is nice. Old cherry road from camp verde to dewey is nice and not terribly rough

I just checked the forest site, it says no shooting on state land, however national forest and other places are fine for shooting. If I am reading it correctly.

There’s no blm around there and you’re either in coconino National Forest or Prescott National Forest both are still in stage 1 fire restrictions. It sucks

I'd check out Jerome and hike to Wet Beavercreek if you're into long hikes. When I was there earlier in the Summer there was quite a bit of scenery.

Shooting IS allowed in the Coconino. In the Prescott NF target shooting isn’t, but discharging a firearm during a legal hunt IS. Plenty of stuff to do besides shooting tho.

Lots of cool trailheads in Sedona or close, sycamore creek, wet beaver creek, west clear creek and even oak creek. Bring a fly rod and have fun with trout and smallmouth in the pools of all the creeks. Some good breweries around as well. Any other questions shoot me a message. Daniel
