Cow elk hunting?

Hello All: I’ve taken time off around the Christmas holiday and one of the things I’d love to do is go on a decent hunt. I know it is very last minute but my job is hectic thus it’s very hard to plan ahead.

For those who have hunted cow elk late in the season, what have been your experiences ?

Also. Be blunt. Is it a bit of a fool’s errand to see if there are any hunts available?

I would check left over license lists in any states of interest. I would assume if anything is left it'll be a unit with difficult access or elk that mostly stay on private, so filling your tag would come down to being lucky.

Jackson Hole is a great place to spend a week whether you hunt or not. Go there and enter the drawing to be able to hunt the National Elk Refuge.

I don't think it's unreasonable to try to grab a landowner tag at this point; what's your budget?

Numbers are growing in the winter areas....and they're feeding nearly all day now.
