Also, big difference between a calf in August archery seasons and same calf later during the rifle seasons in Oct-Nov.

I only archery hunt, shooting a calf during our September seasons has never crossed my mind. A couple years back I was having a hard time arrowing a cow on my B tag, just couldn't get one in range. Finally had a single in front of me, I knew she was big, turned out to be a T-Rex of a cow. I don't know how many times I said "Sorry" the guys helping me with that one.

If a group of cow are moving, generally the lead cow is the matriarch of the herd. She be the smart OLD bird.
