Cutting Fingertips Off First Lite Merino Gloves

I know First Lite sells the fingerless Talus glove, but i really just need the pointer and thumb exposed on one hand in order to manipulate things. I own their aerowool liner gloves. Has anyone experimented with cutting the finger tips off of these? If so, how did you do it? I’ve never done something like that to wool, so I didn’t know it would handle it. Can you burn it to harden the edge and prevent further unraveling? Im concerned that it would just continue to unravel and lead to a totally compromised glove.

I just slit the index finger on mine along the seam so it can poke out as needed. Sorta like how my underwear works...

Liquid Fray Check would be my choice. Wool, cotton and other natural fibers do not melt, they burn. I have melted synthetic fingers on gloves and it left a "crunchy" edge with little hard balls of melted material.

I cut the index and tumb off my FL liners probably 5-6 years ago and they are still working for me. A couple years ago one of the seams stared to unravel and I stitched

it up with a hotel sewing kit and I’m not a seamstress. Look at the middle finger and the holes worn in it, that will give you an indication of the use I’ve gotten out of them.

Probably time for a set of replacements

Just cut them? Do anything special other than that to keep them from unraveling?

Don’t cut them off. Just place a pair of horizontal cuts across the fingers to move them out of the way. Been doing this on my Sitka Traverse gloves for years. Keeps full function of the glove and allows my finger and thumb to come out when I need fine dexterity or texting.

Just cut them. Didn't do anything.
