I wanted to give a review of my LWCG Public Land Stand. I picked this about about a month ago and have approximately 10 sits in it. I am coming from a saddle and Predator platform, as well as a Millennium M7. So far I am very impressed with the LWCG stand.

(Bane is attached via three fastex buckles. Two girth hitched to the platform and one around the top with K clips mounted to the pack)

For climbing I am using three of their double sticks with an aider on each. With this setup I can get to approximately 16’. The sticks are very quick and easy to mount. They are a bit noisey since they are a single piece of aluminum but some stealth strips or silent touch tape will quiet them down. The attachment for the sticks to the stand is super compact and you can use your treestand cam strap to secure the sticks to the stand during transport. I will say that the sticks with cable aiders do not mount to the stand nearly as nicely as the bare stick. For this I’d recommend your stick mounted closest to the stand to not have an aider on it. I have not had any issues with the standoffs biting trees well enough. B7E03DC0-9B89-46AC-B4BD-3B38D965523D.jpeg

(I really like this attachment method using the “T’s” on each side of the sticks with Amsteel)

My primary use for this stand is a hybrid saddle platform / treestand when I want to sit or need a different vantage point. The stand works well for this purpose.

(I added a same piece of closed cell foam to the under side of the seat for kneeling against in my saddle)

The .5 platform is small for a treestand but very roomy for a saddle platform. I find it is a nice balance for my intended use. For a guy strictly looking for a sit / stand treestand or abnormally large guy this stand may feel too small.

(This is with the seat folded up. I’m 5’10” 180lbs and a size 11boot for reference)

(Sitting down, you can see the tips of my feet are off the platform. Coming from strictly a saddle platform this setup does not bother me at all)

The entire ready to hunt setup is not much heavier than my prior saddle setup (Phantom platform and six Wild Edge steps)

(Weight ready to hunt with Bane and everything I’d need for a full days sit)

(Weight with stand, three sticks, three cable aiders, backpack straps, and all the silencing / attachment mods I did)

All in all I have been very happy with the LWCG Public Land Stand. For its intended purpose, (weight savings mobile public land hunter) I think this stand is hard to beat. I recognize that this setup might not be in everyone’s budget. But if you are a die hard Public Land guy who puts on the miles with your stand on your back I think it’s well worth the money. It is also a sweet hybrid setup for the saddle guys out there! Hope you enjoyed the review, let me know if you have any questions.

Nice write up. I am looking to add one of these to my arsenal for next season.

At present I am running a LW Assault or a Tethrd Phantom. For elevation I use 4 Hawk Helium steps. But I think I am going to purchase 2 aiders and lose 1 step for weight savings.

I did 5 all day sits in this stand last season. It’s not as comfy as a summit climber but if you can switch it up standing and sitting, it’s doable. With the weight savings & compact storage it’s my favorite stand & easy to throw on the meat shelf of your pack.

Good analysis. It's too small for me as a go-to stand, but I think it does a good job splitting the difference between a what-the-hell special and a saddle platform.

I’m 5’6 160lbs. Been running my .5 for the last 3 years. It’s perfect, literally my favorite stand of all time. Have had the older lone wolfs, current beast stand and .5 at the same time. Sold the beast stand and kept the .5. Just a pure joy to set up and carry around all day in the swamps and mtns.
