I just received my daughters new backpack. After quite a bit of research I went with the Arc'teryx altra 62. We got this pack on sale at a local store for $315. This pack comes with a very heavy duty frame for a "backpacking pack". It is a 62L pack which in a regular or tall model comes in around 3965 cubic inches. This is a good pack for up to about 5 days depending upon what kind of person you are when it comes to packing.

This pack is an excellent option for those whose female in the family enjoys tagging along. if she wants to tag along for a hunt it is perfectly capable of putting more than your standard backpacking weight in it.

It has its own hydration pocket.

A clamshell lid with 2 individual compartments.

A very unique feature of this pack is its access points. It will completely open up from the bottom with a u shape zipper. Giving you access to the entire main compartment.

And of course a top entry with adjustable snow collar.

It has 2 side pockets next to the waistbelt on each side of the pack large enough for a 32 Oz. Nalgene.

It also has a quick access pocket in the back of the pack that could be a good place for rain gear or other items needed along the trail.

All in all the pack fits her great and I can't wait to see how it preforms along the trail. I will give another review after a few trips this year and see if it stands up to all its good reviews.

For someone not wanting to spend a ton of money on a pack this one can be found anywhere from low 300s to mid 400s. It also comes in black, as well as a few other size options for men as well as woman. Even if your a guy and looking for a hunting pack the altra is a great pack and can be found in a 85L model in the men's.

Looks like a great option. I used an arcteryx Briza 65L (the women's equivalent to the men's Bora line) for several seasons, and Luke ran a Bora for most of his early years.. Arcteryx makes some great top quality products, and their customer service and warrantee process is excellent too. Look forward to hearing how this pack works out for your daughter once she gets some miles on it!
