I was lucky enough to draw an Alaska DC827 tag this year. Will be my first time hunting caribou also flying in somewhere if I can find a flight. Any and all advice, stories, general information is welcome

Yeah bro, call Wrights and tell them you want to go for that tag and would like to inquire about success rates from their Gold King strip around mystic mnt compared to their West Fork Little Delta strip. Dial it in based on their answer for the last couple of years. Ask for Christina in charters

I called wright and got on a list but we'll see what happens, I'm also looking at flying into Wood River Lodge and hiking out from there back to the lodge when I get one, OR floating out the wood river over a week or so from the lodge. Fly in is my first option as I don't want to blow this tag

I was literally just about to post on here for air taxi's! Good luck on your hunt! I'm curious to see what you decide on.

I was able to get a flight into the the Boulder creek area in the Tatlanika drainage through Wrights, will be there for 14 days hopefully. So now that I have that covered I've got my fingers crossed my work cooperates

I shot a bull the first day , not the monster like the pics I've seen before out of that unit but I didn't mind too much, we got some pretty gnarly weather that would've kept us from doing too much more hunting, and both my uncle and I ended up with COVID. We saw 8 total bou and quite a few moose, but didn't even come close to checking out all the spots we wanted, I've just never been a patient person when I see a legal animal haha. Ill get a pic thrown up here when I can.

I had family out moose hunting with Wright's in your area September 2021. The weather was abysmal this past season. Where are the pics from dc827. My fiancé and I drew the tag this year.

I've been lucky enough to have drawn this tag 3 times now in the last 12 years and filled the tag each time. Have also help pack out 2 more with other folks that have drawn. Its a great tag, but I've never flown in for it so zero help there.

This past year I was only able to dedicate just the last couple days of the season to it and took the kiddos along. It was a cold snowy trip, but still managed to score a decent little meat bull and make a lot of memories.

Since ya wanted some pics:
Joke attempt for my buddies to make it look as large as possible :)

Also helps it look not quite as small when you let a youngster pose with it :)

Little man was nice enough to haul the antlers the 4 miles back to camp for us and as a reward he got to keep the antlers when we got back home:

I needed this reminder to finish my story about our trip for DC827, so thanks! A buddy and I flew in this year and had a great hunt. Doubled up and had a brutal pack back to the airstrip. I’ll finish my story and post it into the Caribou forum this week.

Thanks for sharing some photos of your experiences with hunting this tag everyone!

My wife drew it this year, I'm looking forward to helping her again in August.

Wow that’s a legit photo. Hunting AK for caribou sometime would be incredible. Need to add that to my list!
