Found this guy in the Gila last year. Wasn’t the trophy I was looking for but it helped ease the pain some.

Pit lamping, jack lighting, spotlighting, etc. Shining a light on animals and shooting them. The local Indian bands figure it's their traditional treaty protected method of hunting.

Thanks, I’ve heard all the other terms, but never pit lamping.

Saw this last year archery Hunting elk with my brother in law. We were hot on some elk that evening and running out of daylight. went a solid mile out of my way the next day to go back and get it.

This is my best elk dead head...

Got a picture of him in March one year, then found him in April.
Cat got him, along with 2 others I found in less than a 1/2 of a steep creek bed.
Drought that year, bulls were using one little creek and the cat was nailing them.

He scores 305” and is less an 1.5” out of perfect symmetry.

All 3 bulls were in the bottom of the ravine, and then pulled into little pockets and then covered up with logs and debris.

I’ve found dozens of lion kills over the years, and they all kinda look the same how/where they’re cached.

I actually saw one of the other 3 bulls i found that day, a few weeks before as well...he had all messed up hooves and didn’t look to good when I saw him.
