Solid kit -- no matter what version. It's in excellent shape--no scuffs, cracks or breaks, This has been a staple in my NAV kit for years! It's gotten me out of some real jams, and it's kept my wife happy. Oh the stories I could tell that may have gone differently had I NOT had my InReach.
Besides keeping my smoochie happy and getting my buddy back to the trailhead after a horrible first night of mind-numbing altitude sickness at treeline, the biggest benefit of having this is receiving & plotting 8-digit UTM coordinates from my InReach onto my topo when I wasn't quite sure where I was or how far away I was from camp. If you DON't know how to plot UTM Coords in the deep back country, I'd say you are not complete. It's a skill worth investing your time in.
