This is about as DIY as it gets. I built this bow from hickory with rawhide I processed myself, put a little strip of purpleheart in the center of the riser, and topped it off with an ash board that I milled from a leftover piece from an ash bowstave I cut. It pulls 55lbs@28".
I did a video of the whole build on my youtube you can check it out here.

Alright, looks good. Take it huntin'
Thanks! That was what sparked getting back into building bows. I want to build all my gear, heads and everything and kill a deer with it. I've been expirementing with some different setups on my channel. I got a little tinkering with broadheads before I take a primitive setup into the woods.

Looks great! Are you planning to laminated to protect it from weather?
So the limbs are just one piece of hickory, with rawhide backing. I covered the rawhide with waterproof acrylic paint, mainly because I feel like over time rawhide ends up looking dirty. The wood portion is sealed with tung oil. So to answer your question directly, no I'm not going to laminate, but it is sealed from moisture. Last one I sealed with bear grease, which was kinda cool.
