Finally got my order after more than 5 weeks. Now my bag is complete,a lot of DIY sewing, its a HC7000 but looks like an Argali now with lid and a third compression strap and few molle pals and autolock buckles. The horror when i saw a MADE IN CHINA logo on my Kifaru beanie 😱

Shorter on top and wider down...its the same specs as Kifaru.I put a foam pad in the sleeve for more comfy. If my memory is good its about 7" top to 14-15" down and 38" long.

Reaper,

What material are you using on your tent/tipi? Looks like your making something similar to my Luna 6. I enjoy your pictures of your projects. I'm just learning to sew but maybe one day I can make a tent/tipi.

Its simple silnylon, dark green color,grosgrain,500 cordura fabric,Mara 50.I am looking for something lightweight and easy set-up.Just hope it will be nice, not really good in maths and geometry haha !! so we'll see how it turn out.

reaper,

What did you use to hold the long seams together while you sewed them? Do you use any type of adhesive on the slippery material? Thanks

Following this, planning on trying my hand at a tipi/modified megamid this winter. Basically a Luna 6 but with 2' additional vertical walls on the bottom. 10x10x8. Cardboard mock up is working out, still working through a million details. Hope to start on it in Feb.

Planning on having the vertical extension cut as part of the triangular panel, as opposed to sewing on the 40' x 2' vertical skirt around the pyramid. This eliminates about 5' feet of seams all told. Got the idea from an old boyscout wall tent plan.

How are you marking out such long cuts on your material and keeping them straight and not shifting the materials?

I sew river gear primarily, usually much stiffer stuff so easier to manage. The biggest thing I've made is a few cataraft floors. Nothing this big and never worked with ultralight materials before. And I need to do some practice with zippers, every thing I've done has roll tops or draw strings.

Believe me its not straight like i want...using the gage on the machine help a lot or you mark a line or pin everyting, the hardest part to me was to cut every panel from the fabric,it have to be straight as possible but you have a chance to repair it when youll do the flat felled seam.

That's what I was referring to. The keeping it straight while cutting, not sewing.
I was using a 2x4 and a sharpie on the big chunks of phiphertex I used for raft floors.
