Marsupial Gear has been out of holsters for a while, so I figured, fuggit, let’s try it.

Made a couple for my G20 and one for my G43x. Took some inspiration from a @pods8 Nalgene holder.

Now my friends all want one. For their friends too.

I like it. I need to make a couple for my harness as well. What kind of support material did you use?

I banged out a copy cat rogue lifting belt this evening. I used 1/4" eva foam from Joanns that they sell for cosplay purposes.

For the little 9mm I used some thin HDPE between some loop and 500D Cordura. I skipped the HDPE on the two larger ones and have decided it’s not necessary.

So just codura and loop works fine? I guess the loop has a fair bit of rigidity.

Also what kind of edge binding is that? Looks durable.

Yes just cordura and loop. I'm pretty new to this sewing thing but finding there are lots of different kinds of loop. This stuff is pretty stiff. Believe this is it:

That's just regular old milspec 1" webbing. Had to give my wheel some manual nudges to get the need to punch it. It's just a 1950's made in Japan Montgomery Ward so not too much guts to it.

Well you obviously have a knack for it so don't stop. If you're patient, industrial machines can be picked up fairly cheap. My first 2 I got for free.

Thanks for the encouragement!

I actually have a small business opportunity in mind and am kinda working towards that. Don’t really want to be sewing myself, but am leaning so I can design and prototype myself. Want to cut that flow time out to go faster.

Do you think I need a walking foot?

I want something powerful. But I also want something slow. I don’t need to go fast for prototyping. Need more precision at the cost of efficiency.

Need, no. Want, yes. Walking foot just really helps to keep mulit layers of fabric lined up and to feed fat stacks. Sewing that belt yesterday would have been a lot less fun without compound feed. Before I had a compound feed, I had to apply a lot of outfeed pressure to get thick stacks to feed through. Obviously this can lead to inconsistent stitch length.

After years of struggling with home machines and some industrial machines with no reverse, I finally bought what I had decided was the best machine for me. Consew 206rb5. I bought it used for $900. Better deals can be found but I was tired of waiting. I really like the machine. Money well spent.

Yea I'm not all about sewing for production work. Hard pass on that.

I forgot to add that a servo motor is the key to power and control. If you buy new, you can get it to come with one. If used, you can pick up a new servo for about $100.

@dosperros thanks for the inspiration. I have a bunch of scraps of multicam that I got from a member here. Drew up patterns for all my pistols. Eventually realized they can be pretty generic. Marsupial only makes 2 different ones to cover almost all pistols. I used some thin craft foam for structure and padding. I lined it with some green cordura that I have a bunch of from the same guy. I copied all of the features that Marsupial uses. Their design is well thought out.

Sweet!

I got a pile of pistols on my desk from buddies who want one. Gonna whip out some for some more G20’s, some G29’s, and a G40.

Did you use a snap fastener? Have noticed the cheap Amazon ones don’t hold too tight. Any recommendos?

I did use a snap fastener for mounting strap and retaining strap. Other end of retaining strap mounts to inside with velcro so it is easily adjustable for various pistols. Stole that from marsupial. I got the fasteners at hobby lobby. They are very snug but I'm gonna have to replace them with some higher grade ones. I have already deformed it by fastening it blind. I feel like velcro would work fine. There is so much friction on the mounting strap with it weaving through 5 webbing loops that there is basically no strain transferred to the fastener. Downside of velcro on the front is you couldn't undo it quietly if needed.

I have a Razco but don’t really like the Kydex because I find it rigid and loud. I think I’d like it more if it could be hanging tight from the bottom of the harness like the Marsupial.

@WoodBow what’s the function of the two webbing loops on top? Does that top strap snake through harness holster harness holster harness?

Yea the marsupial has 3 tab loops on the bottom. The holster has 2 that go between those. Then a piece of doubled webbing weaves through them before snapping. It is a little bit of a pain to weave it through but it makes for s a super stable and secure connection. It is also a very natural drawing position. I'd say I can draw and fire in a second or less.

Good post, gave me some ideas how to modify one of my holsters to attach to my bino harness. Thx
