Howdy!

I inherited a wall tent wood stove, but I need to build a chimney for it.

Lots of folks talk about putting spark arrestors in or on top of their chimneys to keep embers from burning their tent roofs. But they also talk about having to clean the spark arrestor like every day.

I guess my questions are: is there a way to clean a spark arrestor that’s on top of your chimney without dismantling your wall tent/chimney? Or if not, is there a way to put your spark arrestor in a more accessible place, like at the bottom of the chimney?

All thoughts, experiences, and snide remarks welcome!

My seek outside stove has the arrestor at the bottom. So yes that is possible.

Thanks—watched a couple set up SO set up videos. Seems like something I could re-create.

My friend and I designed this spark arrestor but it ended up getting clogged up after a few days. We pounded it out with a stick on the first trip and haven't had a problem since. The open sides are there still. However we have only used the stove when it was 20*F at night or colder so didn't have any issues with sparks burning holes.
