Do bow shops hate when you work on your own stuff?

All the shops near me have real bad reviews. My buddy just recently got his first bow at a place in albuquerque and they gave him the wrong poundage bow. They cranked the limbs to 60. Then he found out it was a 50lb max bow. Luckily they changed everything out for him free, but that lack of attention to detail is sketchy. He said the limbs were cracked. I imagine the tech got chewed.

I found a guy from my town that does it as a part time thing. Had him restring and retune my current bow. Was worth it. Dude just loves archery and bowhunting. Liked it a lot more than shops trying to sell me more stuff, or neglecting anything in the process.

I plan on eventually buying my own press.
