For durability, the German wool cargo pants they issued in the 60's can still be found in mint shape at a lot of surplus and thrift stores. They are great quality. Swedish and Finnish wool army pants are also great. The USGI gaberdine wool m1951 field pants are still available unissued for less than $20 all over the internet- these don't have cargo pockets, but those could be added by a seamstress. Any old European or US wool military pants are going to be dramatically more durable than most new pants- most of which are now made in China.
