Hide care can be extremely tough, if you want to save hide or velvet on a hunt, have a plan in place before you go. I'd coordinate with your taxidermist as different ones prefer different things.

I was told all salt or all cold. No water.

For me to mount another mule deer or bull they will need to be 350 or 200". Ill be doing euros. Unless it's a monster blacktail.

Antelope are the same. Hollow hair, skin that pulls. hair that falls out, early hot season hunts. They are a pain to taxidermy in the best conditions. Cape your goat and freeze it ASAP.

I can imagine any coastal or island critters will be a race against time with their hides.
