Easton HIIT epoxy issues

Anyone ever have issues with the Easton epoxy holding up? I have had a couple arrows over the past summer till now where im pulling them out of the target and the insert rips right out of the arrow shaft with the field point

Aint much to the process of glueing them in so i dont think I am missing anything. I use the IW bulbed field points so Im sure that assists in ripping out those inserts when pulling arrows out of a target but i still wouldnt expect it to happen

Anyone found a better insert epoxy?
 
I quit using Easton supplied epoxy 30 years ago. I’ve been using Loctite Black Max forever. It’s expensive now and someone suggested the Bob Smith industries equivalent at a much cheaper cost. I haven’t tried it yet.
 
I have had issues with the epoxy packet that comes form Easton in the past. I have had good luck with the insert glue from Black Eagle. Got away form epoxy years ago and only use hot melt. I went this route due to the cost of inserts and collars. I now just reuse them for the next arrow build.

Nice that makes sense. Thats my plan with the iron will compenents. Gonna nock them out with the ole drill bit technique. but i may look at hot melt going fwd so i dont have to deal with the leftover epoxy residue. Better adherence for next glue in
 
I used the hit inserts with Axis shafts and the supplied epoxy for decades without a problem. If the epoxy is over a yr or 2 old,then maybe its bad, discard.

Any thick epoxy will do. A thin even coat ( spin when inserting ) transfers perfect concentricity from shaft to insert.

Prep is key. Clean the insert and inside of shaft with 90% alcohol, dry and those inserts don’t come out.
 
I wouldn't use hot melt unless you have long inserts and even then I would thread the field tip and insert together and glue them in all at once. The only time I've ever had issues with HIT glue is in dirty arrows, if the arrow is prepped with a bore brush and cleaned with acetone or alcohol they typically won't come out.

The drill bit trick works well on SS inserts, a lot of times it will ruin an aluminum or brass insert.
 
If they're popping loose on some, I've had very good luck getting the rest to go just twisting them out. I put a field point in a vice and using my hands to tighten, then pop, the insert is out.
 
No problems with the epoxy. The only time I had issues with inserts pulling out was when I switched to hot glue where I lost a few inserts. Probably user error, but I was trying to save inserts by being able to take them out when the arrow was spent. I ended up crawling back to the Easton epoxy when I lost 3-4 inserts in the target

I throw it away when I’m putting in HIT inserts. Do yourself a favor and buy a bottle of insert weld. I can’t even break them out when I trash an arrow.

i never had any luck with Insert iron or insert weld . both would harden in the bottles after i opened them. I never use the easton epoxy.
AAE is great two part epoxy for HITs, with a 24 cure.
I have used gorilla glue 5 minute epoxy and it solid as well, but make sure you ready to set them all quick with the fast cure time
 
Never had a problem with easton epoxy. Prep the inside of your arrow by scuffing up the inside with a 22cal brass brush and the use a q tip with acetone and clean out the residue.

I have been using kimsha hotmelt for 3-4 years and I don’t think I have had one come loose yet. I do a little extra prep on them but it’s been working great.
 
Dang, I've done dozens of arrows and never had a HIT pull out. I use the Easton epoxy. I usually wipe the inside out with a Q tip then start seating the hits.
