I hunt most NW Mo white tails on land I know well. I’ve never had a real need for a dedication hunting GPS unit. But I’m headed to CO for first rifle elk this season. I cycle for exercise and have a Garmin Edge 1000. Has anyone had occasional use an Edge 1000 for hiking? I assume I would need to download some topo maps. But before I went to the hassle, thought I’d see if anyone’s as prior experience/advice.
I know it won’t be as good as, say, the Montana or Oregon models for hiking, but I have a hard time dishing out another $500 plus for a GPS for one hunt (hopefully there are more, but my shopping list for this one is quite long already ).
Thanks,
Aaron
