We are seeing a second consecutive year of EHD in New York State. We watched deer herds disappear with a few weeks. Now with a second year I can’t imagine what it will take for the #s to bounce back.
Anyone experienced similar consecutive years of this who can opine on how long it took for the herd to make a resurgence ?

I've never seen back to back outbreaks in the same area, but that's probably because the survivors carry enough immunity to get them through the next year or so. The last time it hit my area in Michigan it was really bad. The swamp 1/4 mile from my parent's place (my hunting area) smelled like death for months. Dead bloated deer would randomly float down streams and rivers and get stuck on dams in populated areas. It took about 5 years for things to get back to normal.

Thanks seems we are in for a long recovery and the DEC instead opens an early guns season in the same Zone suffering. The left lunacy seems to be affecting them too.
