The hunting unit i drew this year looked like a great idea. Wasnt able to get to scout but did e-scouting. Had Plan A, B, C, D, and E to try and make it happen in 5 days. Near the end of August unit caught fire. It is still burning. Unit is open but obviously fire danger and no open fires.

I've been contemplating whether to give it a try. But in reality idk how I feel about running around in a fire unit, if the wife will be worried about myself being out there, and most of all how much wildlife will be out there with the fire burning for over a month or if there even is wildlife left.

Should I just return the tag and hope for a better 2021 or try and make it work? What would you guys do? Randy Newberg does state hunting burn areas are always great but probably for next year right?

I have seen elk bed in timber that is still smoldering. They aren't affected near as much as people think. They get out of the way but not much more than that. I would hunt.
