So I’m leaving for an elk hunt next month. I’ve changed to a much heavier arrow and increased my draw weight. I’m just wondering if this setup will be ok. Draw weight 66 lbs, 475g arrow, 28” shaft, 100g exudus head, FOC 11% and 267 fps. When I change to 125g heads, 500g arrow, FOC increases to 13% and speed decreases to 261 fps. 100’s group slightly better than the 125’s at 60 yards. My Triax is maxed out on draw weight. I can’t really change anything other than the head now. I just want your thoughts On which I should choose. Thanks.

The difference in "performance" from the 100 to 125 is virtually nothing, if the 100 is more consistent then shoot them.

Are these tests for groups with broadheads?

125s are weakening spine a little, which is probably why you are seeing a difference. It’s minimal and performance on the animal is going to be negligible. Go with what’s flying best and what you’ve been shooting all summer.

Sounds good to me. I’m shooting a similar setup. Stick with the 100s
70lb and 29” draw, 28” arrow 300 spine Easton axis with 50gr brass inserts and 100gr anniihalors.

With a good broadside shot I would expect an exit hole with either. Depending on ribs your arrow may be hanging out the exit. If you hit the leg bone you'll be in trouble, but not much can take that on safely.

You sound pretty good to me. I would stick with the 100 grain broadheads since they are flying better. The 125 are weakening your spine a bit which is why they aren't as consistent. Keep the 100's on and I would say you are good to go.

Agree with the other guys; stick with the 100's if they are grouping better...
