You guys make grizzlies seem like some sort of bat born viral illness that would sweep through the country creating havoc and political unrest.

They're not that bad. Learn about them, respect them, and be nice by leaving them a tasty carcass to enjoy.

I grew up around them, hunt around them, and enjoy seeing them. They fascinate me and are impressive to watch. Now, if you don't like the idea of their presence, there are plenty of placed to hunt where they don't occur. That is fine, and I hope you do well.

Definitely stay in Colorado! The griz are out of hand in Montana! No joke found griz poo the other weekend in an area that "doesn't have griz".

Sorry, that was my fault. You can't hunt them so I've just been doing catch and release. They never specified where I had to release though.

It was just a couple years ago that a warden was investigating a kill on some cattle in Grass Range,MT that turned out to be a grizzly kill. Their range is expanding quick! I never would have expected grizzly in that part of Montana.

For people like that actually live in griz country it is most definitely worth it. This is just a part of our season every year. We just go about our business and hunt. Now if you are from other places then you have options and do not need to put yourself in that situation if you don’t want to.

I hunt solo most of the time. Have no interest whatsoever hunting in griz country. No big trophy bull is worth the risk of an encounter. I enjoy the challenge and fun of hunting too much to have to keep looking over my shoulder while elbow deep in elk blood.

Our party has similar thought processes, but it just comes down to being smart. Also found that higher numbers of elk typically are found in the grizz country. At least in our experience anyway.

Just read an article today detailing 7 grizzly attacks this year. Say its the highest number of attacks in the greater Yelllowstone Area and double of the second highest number of attacks which was in 2007 (three attacks). I think it can be worth it just be cautious.

Two years ago I saw a monster bull (360-370) resting his balls in a wallow cooling off in a high country meadow. I was about 1000 yards away planning my stalk. As I looked around the area I noticed a huge grizzly step in the meadow toward the bull. It walked within 50 yards of the bull and the bull didnt flinch.

In my head I imagined the grizzly saying "Yeah enjoy it now, once you are beaten down post rut i am coming for you!"

It made my stalk a little nerve wracking knowing the grizz was nearby. I got to about 70 yards from the bull without alerting it. Took a shot and hit one of those branches sticking up from a deadfall. The bull spooked a little and all I could think about as i cow called at him was where was this grizzly. it threw me off and I kept looking over my shoulder. Eventually the bull worked away as the light dimmed and we called it a night.

I love hunting in Grizzly country. The opportunity of seeing one of these majestic animals adds to the excitement for me. I carry bear spray and feel if I need to shoot a bear I stand a better chance with my rifle than a handgun. My wife worries about me hunting solo claiming I will die on a mountain and a bear will eat me. That's fine I won't hold a grudge. Rather die there than a nursing home.

We were hunting in the Gravelly range in Montana last September and opted for different scenery after a grizzly tore up three guys, in two separate incidents In one day. From everything I’ve gathered grizzly effect people more then they do the elk, and although it’s a low likelihood, I’d still rather not deal with them.
