Pretty crazy, any one ever had a downed bull charge them?

TILLAMOOK, Ore. (KTVZ) -- A bow hunter who shot and wounded a bull elk in Tillamook on Saturday couldn't find it before night fell, so he went looking for it on Sunday -- but the animal charged, gored and fatally wounded him, Oregon State Police said.

Sad happening. I’m sure friends and family are devastated.

Animals will charge and attack when wounded and/or cornered. Not an elk but I had a large wounded feral hog sow charge when I tracked her to a swollen swift flowing creek she did not want to cross. She charged and I put her down point blank with buck shot. Could have been a much different ending, since then I approach all down or injured animals with caution.

While turkey this past spring I had a large boar hog walk within barrel poking range of me in the dark, I could smell his musk and see his tail. I kept my 12gauge pointed at his ear wishing I still had buckshot or slug in the chamber and not #6 shot in case he spooked. He continued on and never knew I was there.

Several years ago a sandhill crane killed a hunters dog(lab I believe), when it punctured the dogs lung with it’s beak.

How devastating. I've never heard of an elk charging though. Now I'm scared to head out tomorrow morning! Well I was anyway, bears and such.
