Explanations?

While searching for a buck my cousin shot yesterday, we found this incredible rack! At first, we thought maybe somebody arrowed him in Oct and didnt find him? Upon closer examination, we discovered 2 dead does and a dead knubbing buck skeleton all within 20 yds of this guy. The skeletons were in some very thick heavily wooded area along a hardwood creek bottom. The ONLY thing we can think of is maybe a lightning strike while they were all huddled together? What say the experts?

Corn Acidosis (Toxicity) ? I'll tell you one thing, I wouldn't drink water from THAT creek!

The creek leads me to believe that its EHD/Blue Tongue. A few years back hundreds of deer in Southern Iowa died from that.

Creek bottom would make me think EHD as well
