Got out this morning for our final day of permit archery, winter bow starts tomorrow. Woods were quiet till 8:45am. That is when I had 2 big does and 3 youngsters come running in, like they were being pushed. The lead big doe was just about to get into the shooting lane when she stopped and looked behind her. I looked up to see this guy pushing them hard. He stopped at 40 yards but no shot opportunity. With his next push he got to 15 yards and stopped quartered towards me, but more facing me. I came to full draw and anchored right on the neck and looking at the opposite shoulder. Slowly put pressure on the release and the arrow launched. The arrow buried right into the carotid artery and then down into his heart and one lung. He made it 70 yards before piling up.

This is also the first deer with my new, to me, Bowtech Realm X. Arrow was a Gold Tip Hunter Pro with 125 Magnus Stinger, 517 grain total weight. Who needs expandables when you can open them up like this with a fixed blade.
