I finally got my custom Winchester M70 264 win mag back and ready to hunt. I sent it off to Manners to have them build a stock for it. It has PT&G aluminum bottom metal and a Wyatt extended magazine box so I sent it to them after discussing it with them. After several trips back and forth the stock still did not fit. They ended up letting me have the stock and not charging me for it. I sent it all to the gunsmith who originally built the rifle and he got it all fit and running. He also cerakoted the stainless rifle while he had it so weather should never be an issue. While it was gone I bought a Huskemaw 5-20x scope and had it waiting.
With the scope it weighs 10lbs even. It will be my deer and antelope rifle again for lower country. I’ll still pack my light 300 win custom M70 for the mountains or Alaska.
This week I fired it for the first time since 2016. I got it sighted in and it shot great. Also 5 of my handloads showed the 140 grain Berger running 2905fps with only 4fps SD. Two hours later I had a coyote sniped with it.
I’m glad to have my old rifle back and ready to go.
