Bad one burning in the Black Hills. Started this morning on private property from a still hot slash pile. Someone is gonna be in deep $#&@.

Sustained wind of 55mph today, gusts to 81. Fire is currently 1900 acres 0% contained. Have evacuated 500 homes. It's burning right down the west edge of the city. Wind hasn't let up tonight at all.

Drove down after work and it's literally right up the hill in heavy residential neighborhoods. Pretty impressive to watch. Rapid city is full of smoke and ash.

Couple pics. It came down the hill right to the edge of town in the bottom pic!

Thankfully the hills are green in my area right now. Hopefully no one loses a house and everyone stays safe, the fires were horrible last year out here. It sucks and I wish the best for everyone involved.

We got about 6 inches a couple weeks ago. Didn't help much. We are over 10 inches behind normal from last year. Also doesn't stick around long this time of year.

Story is the guy burned his slash pile during the snow and it was still hot underneath. The wind yesterday whipped it up.

Wind went down sometime after 11 last night but supposed to blow 30-40 all day.
