Hello all,
I drew second season archery for New Mexico Unit 5B. This will be my first archery hunt. Any tips about the u it and regarding archery hunting elk would be greatly appreciated. I will be hunting with Hoyt RX-5. At 70lbs draw. Easton long range arrows. Day six Evo Broadheads. Not asking for honey holes, just advice. Thanks.

Get in good shape.
Make sure you can shoot that bow under pressure, sitting, kneeling, steep inclines/steep declines, etc.

Check your gear ahead of time and wear boots that are broken in before you find out you've lost half the skin on your heel to a blister.

Some NM advice that everyone hunting there should pay attention to: Watch the weather this summer.... especially July - August in NM..... See if they get a proper monsoon season or not... that will dictate a lot of your hunt and whether the elk will be spread out or hugging the water.

Did you hire an outfitter? I hope so. NM elk is a rare tag. Suck to waste it not knowing anything about elk hunting.
