Ended up with leftover doe tags in 15 instead of 10. I actually found public access to be extremely ample if you targeted the less “antelopey” eastern part of the unit and we’re willing to hike in to glassing spots. We had a plan a, b, and c and all 3 of them didn’t get much pressure, the lots were empty when we passed on our way out. People just really don’t like to climb the hills, which really works out for the eager first timers I guess.

We scouted about 20 antelope the day before opener and found 3 that were on a secluded 1,000 acre parcel off the beaten path (but still legally accessible). We were the only group targeting antelope out of 3. Put in a 1.5 mile stalk and we found out the 3 were actually 15! Wish we had buck tags because there was a hell of a heard buck in there really running them ragged. The forks were well clear of his ears.

Tagged and bagged and back at the truck by 11am. I hope it was quite a show for the 2 groups that watched us the entire stalk. it was the most fun I’ve ever had on a hunt. Completely blows away Midwestern stand sitting white tails.

Holy cow are there a lot of mule deer in this unit, hundreds and hundreds of them glassed, spotted from the truck, or bumped while we were hiking around scouting over the 2 days we were there. Only one 3x3 though, which I found odd.

Anyway, this sites been a load of help, and I just wanted to let the new guys like me know you can make it happen in any unit with some escouting, pre scouting and a lot of leg work.

Wyoming, nearish to Sheridan. 6.5 creedmoor with 143 gr. Hornady precision hunters, however, we could have arrowed them with how close we were, less than 50 yards.

You're giving me hope! I'm coming up to WY from CO for a doe hunt in 38 in 2 weeks. Very excited to try something new (my go to is mountain elk and mulies). Congrats on your success.
