I grew up in Central Illinois in prime deer hunting country. However, I had no mentor or access to hunt any of it. When I got out of the Marines, I started shooting a bow and trying to teach myself. When i met my now wife, her dad started taking me out with him. That was short lived as I took a job in Missouri to better our situation in order to start a family. Ten years ago I bought a house on 18 acres in hopes of bowhunting in my spare time. Unfortunately, issues with my elbow accelerated which doesn't allow me to shoot a bow anymore and "spare time" quickly decreased. In 2021, I killed my first whitetail buck during rifle season no more than 180 yards off my back deck. Just got the mount back and I'm pretty pumped at 39 years old.
