Hey guys I just wanted to share the Bison I was able to take with me bow this year. I was lucky to draw the late season Bison tag for the west Yellowstone area in Montana. We found a group of about fifty head and I was able to connect on the great seven year old bull. What an animal! For sure one of the coolest things I have ever done!!

Awesome. Any more details on the kill? I see two arrows in the quiver and looks like two holes in the bison?

Here is a little more info on the hunt. I was shooting an Athens Afflixtion set at 71 lbs, Black Eagle Deep Impacts with a Solid S30V 125 g. on the business end. My first shot was at 20 yards. It was a heart shot complete pass through. After the shot about twenty other bison surrounded my bull. We backed off to give it time to expire. After 45 minutes of watching the bull lay down and get back up he finally got to a position where I was able to sneak in to put another arrow in him. I made it to 27 yards and shot a little low which moved the bull into a small creek (not a good place for an animal that size to die). I snuck one more arrow behind the last rib on a hard quartering shot and the bull took five steps and was finished.

I have no doubt that the first shot was a kill shot but I was worried about the possibility of the Buffalo Field Campaign watching and portraying the situation in a negative light. These animals are incredibly tough and big!

I am getting a European mount on the the head and a rug made out of the hide. I should get the head back in a month or so. I will post some picks when I get it back!
