Fresh 280AI custom build

Wanted to show off my first ever custom rifle build. Sterling precision out of Farmington MO put this one together for me. It started as an old rem 700 in 270. I wanted a do all rifle therefore chose 280AI. Can’t wait to see how it shoots!

Proof carbon 1-8.4 twist
AG stock
Hawkins hinge style bottom metal
Timney trigger set at 1.9lb
Leupold vx5hd 3-15x44

Bullets, brass and h4831 on hand!
Can’t wait for a range day

If you don’t mind me asking, how much is the build, including smithing costs? That’s a great looking rifle. I went the less expensive route with a 280 AI in Savage ultralite, but I may go custom someday. I have a compromise rifle, but you do what you can afford.

Working on loads now. Planning for 162 gr ELDX over Ramshot Hunter or H1000. Also have some Retumbo to try pending how those two work out. My break in fodder was shooting pretty tight groups already at 100 yds. Going to the range Saturday with new stuff and will report back.

I started with a Stiller Predator action, a Bartlein 2B cut to 25”, and an AG Composite CAT stock. Hawkins BDL for the bottom metal and T-Tech Special for the trigger. Weighs right at 8.6 lbs with the scope (unloaded).

Have you done any load work up yet?

Tried some different loads in groups of 5 this weekend. So far, the winner was 54 gr of Ramshot Hunter with the 162 ELDX. Started and 50 gr and worked up to the 54. Going to play around with this load a bit to really dial it in.
